What is a task?
A task is a personal or work-related errand you want to track through completion. Creating tasks in outlook can help keep track of work that needs to be completed. A task can occur once or repeatedly. A repeating task is called a recurring task. A haircut that happens once every month for example. A recurring task can be repeated at regular intervals or repeat based on the date you mark the task complete.
How do I create a task?
- Click on the icon that looks like a clipboard next to the mail, calendar, and people icons. This icon is usually on lefthand side of outlook unless your default view has been changed.
- In the new window that pops up click on New Task in the ribbon across the top.
- In the new popup this is what you will see.
- In the Subject field give your task a name.
- Below the Subject field you can adjust the start date and due date.
- Adjust the priority drop down if you wish options are low, normal, and high.
- Check the Reminder check box and outlook will remind you about your task. In the first box to the right of the Reminder check box you can set the date of the reminder, then in the next dropdown what time to be reminded, next click the Bell icon to change the sound of the reminder.
- In the ribbon select Details. From this page you can record how much expected work in hours for the task, how much work has been done, mileage billing information, the date completed, and company.
